THE PARENT’S GUIDE TO SUMMER ADVENTURE

Summer Adventure is the fun, free, easy way to connect with your children all summer long!

By Denise Abbott June 9, 2025

WHAT IS IT?

Pikes Peak Library District’s (PPLD) Summer Adventure reading program has been

around for more than 50 years and is the perfect way to have fun with your children and

create lasting memories. We will help you find things to read and explore so that you

have new adventures together.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Kids (and adults!) can participate and win prizes through reading, creating, and

exploring. You can read and participate in the Library’s many summer programs or pick

up a list of activity ideas at your go-to Library location to enjoy together. You can even

win prizes!

Activities may include:

 Reading (this includes audiobooks, comics, graphic novels, magazines, recipes,

etc.)

 Attending PPLD’s exciting events around the District

 Going for a walk, doing yoga, finding someplace new, playing, or dancing

 Drawing, writing a story, crafting, or building

WHAT DOES IT COST?

There is no cost to participate in PPLD’s Summer Adventure program!

WHY PARTICIPATE?

It is a known fact that kids experience learning loss over the summer… this is known as

“summer slide.” PPLD’s Summer Adventure helps combat this loss in a fun and

engaging way so kids have a strong start when school resumes in the fall.

There is something truly special about the bond between parents and children. It is a

connection built on love, wisdom, and shared wonder. You have a unique opportunity to

inspire the next generation, and the Library is here to help. Spend your summer days

together reading and participating in fun activities all around town.

HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?

 First, you can register for the program in person at your favorite Library location

or visit ppld.beanstack.org to register online through Beanstack. Or you can

download the Beanstack app and register there.

 Next, complete 30 days of activities (either reading, exploring, or creating) from

Mon., June 2 – Thu., July 31.

 Then, track your progress on the Summer Adventure game card tracker

(available at any PPLD location or online at ppld.org/summer) or by logging a day

in Beanstack for each day you complete an activity.

 After 30 days of activities, you have completed the program and will receive a

completion prize at PPLD as well as an entry into the Summer Adventure grand

prize drawing.

For more information and to register for the program, visit ppld.org/summer. Win great

prizes and start a life-long habit of reading and adventuring with Pikes Peak Library District!
