That's exactly what the Daisies in Girl Scout Troop 65870 of Castle Rock did!
Melissa, one of the moms of the troop brought our article to their attention as the project to earn their "Daisy Pedals" was focusing on using resources wisely.
They loved the idea, reached out to me for some information, and were excited to get started!
With Analicia's permission I connected her and her daughter Sophia to the troop.
They had a zoom call to go over what they were working on and how the Daisies could help.
After the zoom call the girls all decorated paper bags to get started collecting chip bags for the Chip Up Project.
Haisley was so excited actually, that the next day she went straight to school and told her class all about what she was doing!
Her classmates also got enthusiastic about helping her collect.
Haisley and her troop are sending Sophia 127 chip bags so far!
It just shows how a little idea from one family can spark change throughout the community, from Colorado Springs all the way to Castle Rock!
Something this simple yet so efficient and effective can change so many lives and teach so many lessons.
It's an amazing way to teach our kids how to think about the future.
We want less trash in our landfills, find a need and find a way to fill it with something reusable.
There are so many ways to help your community, do your research and find what sparks your interest.
It just takes a little time and effort and we can make this world such a better place.
We were meant to stick together, let's do so and make a difference!
